Tradie of the Future - What will the Tradie of the Future Look Like?

Tradies are lucky. The chance of their jobs being replaced by a robot anytime soon is very low. Whilst self-driving cars might replace taxi drivers, bus drivers and truck drivers, no-one has yet invented a “self-wiring sparkie”. Also, unlike office workers and manufacturing there is very very little chance of your job being outsourced to India or China, as a tradie has to be on-site to get the job done. So what will a “Tradie of the Future” look like?

So what will a “Tradie of the Future” look like?

Using his exoskeleton suit to lift and manouver absolutely anything.

He is registered with an internet marketplace for services like ServiceCentral.com.au and simply picks and chooses the high value jobs that are near to him that he wants to do.

3. He never has to worry about payment or paperwork.

He uses systems like Eaco.me for creating quotes, invoicing and chasing payments are a thing of the past. He just checks the bank balance occasionally to see how much its gone up.

4. Parts fly in within 5 minutes.

Upon identifying which parts he needs, they are automatically ordered for the job and fly in on a drone helicopter within 5 minutes. Just enough time to sneak in a nice coffee.

Parts not in stock? Easy, just 3D print one from the printer in your van. Maybe even print a new tool?

Dispatched from a local warehouse and on-site within 30 minutes.

7. Problems solve themselves.

Every tradie has all of the world’s information at their fingertips, meaning that they no longer need to be stumped by a big problem. Photos and Videos of issues are uploaded to the cloud, and people that have solved that problem before collaborate to help the tradie out.

8. Visualise the end result using Google Glass.

Put on Google Glasses to have an overlay of what the end result will look like. Imagine seeing the finished home on the block before you have even started building.

Never fixed that type of unit before, easy fixed. Follow the instructions on Google Glass and you will have it fixed in no time.

Will hardhats be replaced by these inflatable helmets instead?

Whenever the tradie needs a hand, he simply posts a job on ServiceCentral.com.au

Embedded monitoring and fault ID chips will tell you what is wrong with the unit.

The nearest, next available tradie will be directed to the job
