One of our staff members recently went on holiday to Morocco, and took this photo... What is the building trade like in Morocco we wonder?
The builder (looks like he could also be a plumber but who knows how these things work there?!) is transporting his cement, pipes and materials to the job on a hand pulled cart. We're not saying the life of an Australian builder is easy, but pictures like these definitely make us more aware of how useful our tools are to us, and how lucky we are to have things like UTE's and trucks, cranes and so on... This series has so far focussed on technology that can help your trades business work more efficiently, and this photo throws the challenges faced in other countries into sharp relief to the Australian building industry.
Marrakech is filled with construction projects on the go, roads, new hotels, renovations, demolitions. But the absence of any marketing is apparent - sites don't have signs up saying who's doing the work or who's fencing has been supplied, and we imagine that most work is done purely on a word of mouth basis. We'd love to know more of course, so if anyone knows more about the trades in Morocco, please feel free to leave a comment below!
I wonder if they'll eventually put lettering on their carts like we do on our utes?!
