Buying a dishwasher is an exciting prospect for most people who don't have one already! Even for those who've already experienced the joys of a dishwasher, read this article to find out what to look for in a new dishwasher.

  • Energy star ratings and Water usage ratings are important - check out this list of all dishwashers available and compare their star ratings here.
  • You need to know how many gallons of water it uses for the various cycles it has. Ask which cycle you'll need to use regularly and compare that number to the cycle you'd use on other dishwashers.
  • Look for added features specifically targeted at water saving - perhaps there's a half load option, or two separate drawers that let's you choose to only pack a small amount.
  • Check how high the temperature goes - 121 degree centigrade is recommended as a temperature that will kill most bacteria, so giving you more highly sanitised dishes.
