Read on for info about New South Wales' rebates for investment in Solar hot water systems.
If your system is gas powered and has a 5 star or higher rating then you’ll get $300.
If it’s a solar or heat pump water system which is eligible for a minimum of 20 RECsthen you’ll get $300. You will be able to get more information on the number of RECs that your system is eligible for from your installer.
In order to qualify for a rebate in NSW you must replace an existing electric generated hot water system in a residential property. The system must be purchased and installed between 15th Jan 2010 and 30th June 2011. Furthermore the new system has to be installed by a plumber licensed in NSW.
If your new system is being installed to comply with the Building Sustainability Index or in a new home then you will not be eligible for the rebate. There is also a limit of one rebate per property.
Post 15th Jan 2010 a cap has been set on the amount of NSW Home Saver Rebates that a household can receive. This cap is currently at $1500.
In NSW the rebate is applied for after the system has been fully installed.
Remember that you can elect how to have the rebate paid, so it will either be a direct deposit into your nominated bank account or by a cheque. Also remember that you must apply for your rebate within six months of the installation date (or before 5pm on 30th September 2011, whichever is sooner) or your application will not be processed.
Receipt of your rebate application will be acknowledged and most payments are turned around within 60 days. If it takes much longer than this make sure to contact the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water to ensure your application has not been mislaid.
Remember to considerREC'sandfederal rebatesinto your decision as well.
Remember also that rebates can change - this information is correct as at date of publishing but for absolute certainty you should check with your installer.
Hello
over a year ago by Craig
There is now a new energy efficiency rebate for washing machines, fridges, freezers and dishwashers available.
The rebates are organised through the NSW Energy Savings Scheme to encourage the purchase of efficient appliances.
Just letting you know and feel free to ask me any questions.
Thanks
Craig
