Given the amount of time we spend in our homes, it’s hardly surprising that you’re more likely to be injured at home than anywhere else. If you’re renovating your home then your chances of getting hurt shoot up again and statistically if you’re renovating your home on a long weekend, when using a knife – you’re pretty much guaranteed to end up in hospital.
The key to keeping yourself safe when renovating is to plan each project properly rather than just rushing in. Get the right PPE and use it properly. Also knowing when to give in and call in the pros rather than attempt something dangerous yourself.
We’ve put together these lists for you of the top ten tools and materials that cause accidents each year. I was surprised! Now I understand how knives and saws can be dangerous, but how did wallpaper make it on to the list? Wallpaper!?
Be safe when you renovate! And when in doubt, call a professional.
Knives at the top of the list? I would have thought that a chainsaw would be the most dangerous tool!
