NSW feed-in tariffs

What are the New South Wales feed-in tariffs?

The New South Wales government has legislated to provide Gross Feed-In Tariffs. This means that in NSW you can be paid for all electricity that your solar panels create. This is a much better deal than what is on offer in other States where the governments are only offering a net feed-in tariff for excess electricity generated.

Due to changes in the Solar Bonus Scheme, there are now two schemes.

If you applied before 28 October 2010:

The Solar Bonus Scheme means that you are paid 60 cents per kilowatt hour for all electricity that your solar panels generate.

The Solar Bonus Scheme commenced on January 1, 2010 and applies to a maximum solar system size of 10kw. This scheme was set to be reviewed in 2012 but a review in October 2010 generated some changes.

After 28 October 2010:

20 cents per kilowatt hour and a max of 300 megawatts. See news story here regarding the change.

If you're in NSW the Solar Bonus Scheme provides you with a great incentive to install new solar panels today! Not only will you be saving the environment, you will be actually making money from your investment in solar panels.
