So I've been without a bathroom for nearly a week now, and things are looking good. I'm coping well on a regime of showering at friend's houses.
I've not had too many more problems since I was ranting about the tiles, things are moving ahead smoothly. After ripping the bathroom out, the plasterers moved in and started work. Two walls needed completely replastering, then the whole room is going to get skimmed. My new stud walls for the shower have gone up.
The walls were rough plastered yesterday
and then they were skimmed today.
I've stuck a dehumidifier in there today and that'll run over the weekend pretty much constantly in the hope that the plaster dries out and I can start painting early next week. (thanks for the tip Service Central - great article). I'm really, really pleased with the job that the plastering guys have done. I'm always so impressed with the skills of the professionals, whenever I get a specialist in it makes me so ashamed of the work I've done myself. I made sure not to mention that I did the plastering my bedrooms myself. I also kept the bedroom doors closed at all times.
When renovating a bathroom that must have a leaking shower, as the wall and floorboards seem to be rotting, do I need to pull down all the walls and start again.

Would this be because the original bathroom was not installed correctly?
You mentioned that you had this problem as well, and how do you prevent this happening again.
