Dulux Colour Award Winners

Is it time for a fresh coat of paint at your place? It's amazing how quick and easy it is to transform your home with a splash of paint. That's why we're always excited to see the winners of the Dulux Colour Awards - a celebration of the year's best and brightest (literally) uses of colour. This year's award winners are no exception. There are some courageous uses of lemon yellow and tree-frog green amongst the winners this year - perhaps some of the colour combinations could serve as inspiration for your next painting project:

Orange, yellow and pink contrast with charcoal in this apartment building by MGS Architects. Waiting for the elevator has never been so invigorating!

Abbotsford Residence

Designer: Chan Architect

Bright splashes of different hues of green liven up this exterior wall. The Architect, Anthony Chan, explains, "The green colours on the rear façade made reference to the colours of the existing Eucalyptus trees on the site, as well as providing a fresh contrast to the other colours on the façade.

Queen Street House

Designer: Edwards Moore Architects

Striking geometries combined with bold colours make this house a standout. Besides, who could resist a floating stair in the kitchen?

Box Hill House

Designer: Marc Dixon Architect

Marc Dixon Architects have been characteristically adventurous with colour - to stunning effect. Bright yellow, orange and a more muted green contrast the beautiful timber flooring and cladding.

Carson Woolstore Apartment

Designer: Tonic Design

A pop of colour (especially yellow) never fails to bring personality to a space. Here Tonic Design have demonstrated how effectively colour can pick out architectural details like this detailed column.

East Kimberley Development Package

Designer: Iredale Pederson Hook Architects

Vibrant blue in a graphic shape enlivens this space that is otherwise neutral grey and white.

Elonara Heights House

Designer: Bijl Architecture

Here is a neat and simple addition to an existing home which creates a new outdoor entertainment space. The enigmatic green box brightens up what might otherwise be a dingy undercroft. It conceals an external shower room and connects the space to the garden beyond.
