Best options for flooring in a bathroom

Flooring in your bathroom is a little different to the rest of your home. Usually, when you choose flooring for the rest of your home you're aiming more for aesthetic that function but in a bathroom (a 'wet area') you're looking at a few more priorities like durability against water, safety against slipping AND aesthetic.

Here's some advice about your bathroom flooring options

Ceramic tiles

Easy to clean, last a long time and easily waterproofed.

Stone

More expensive and many versions (especially textured stone) will also need to be regularly sealed for waterproofing purposes. Beautiful though!

Timber

Wood absorbs moisture and so needs to be sealed well. Timber veneers can be a better option.

Vinyl

Has good water resistance and is often a good non slip option depending on your choice.

Mosaic or pebble tiles

Pebbles or mosaic come in sheets (like tiles) and resist water well but can be difficult to clean. They do provide better traction.

Not a great bathroom flooring choice

Laminate flooring absorbs water easily and so isn't a good option for bathrooms.

Regardless of what type of flooring you choose, you can also reduce slipperiness with anti-slip solutions.
