Easter may feel like the ideal time for a very long snooze - but a few days guzzling chocolates and hot cross buns will leave you lethargic and frustrated that you didn’t make the most of your holiday break. Here are three great reasons why now’s the time to charge headlong into your long-postponed DIY projects and get stuck into those home renovations you’ve been dreaming about since perusing home decor shops before Christmas.

1. Time off

Long weekend? Yes please! Realistically speaking, most of us don’t have a huge amount of time on our hands outside of holiday periods - and there’s nothing more irritating than enthusiastically launching into a renovation project on an average weekend only to leave it festering and unfinished for months afterwards. The Easter long weekend is a great time to tackle something slightly more time-consuming than normal. Or, if you’re planning to go away with the fam, why not time a bit of professional work in while you’re away to avoid those awkward live-in renovation moments and ensure you arrive home to excitement?

2. Time for a fresh start

Now is the time to get all of those odd jobs done that you don’t want hanging over your head throughout the winter season. Preparing your home for winter means getting it ready for the weather shift and giving it a fresh lease on life to last through the dreariest part of the year. Certain jobs won’t be possible in a few months time - no one likes having to sludge about outside in the heavy rain trying to clean the gutters or decorate the shed. Easter comes long enough after the Christmas splurge that your finances are probably looking a bit more promising, so why not look into having a fix-up of the kitchen or a bathroom? If you’re considering a large renovation, getting organised now means you’ll have a few nice weather months left for enduring the inconvenient, transitional lifestyle of a renovation.

3. Time for family

Call it freeloading or being resourceful - but when it comes to DIY, it can be a huge help to have a few extra hands on deck. Have the kids come home for Easter but you don’t quite know what to do with them? Repainting is a great option for putting them to good use. Having visitors around the Easter season means 1. you have a lot of people at your disposal who’ve consumed large quantities of sugar, and 2. you’re probably noticing the areas where your house is straining to accommodate the extra guests and can think of lots of little jobs which might rectify that. Plus, it’s always nice to get a few opinions on colour wheels and material swabs you’ve been wrestling with for a while.

Big or small, you can kick start your Easter renovation with a bit of help from our handymen, landscapers, painters and renovators - they’ve simply got more oomph and enthusiasm than chocolate can provide!
