Jerry called propmptly. Wasn\'t sure when he would come around I requested that he call me before coming around as I wanted to do some shopping. As I was about to leave they turned up without calling. I was happy that they had turned up and luckily I was still at home. They spent about an hour looking at my washing machine and then said that they needed a part that would cost approx. $300.00 and thier labour would also cost about that much. I asked that they get a real price for me and then I would decide as this was a very expensive and I would be better off getting a new machine. They charged $60.00 even though they had advised that they did not have a call out fee. They also advised that should I go ahead with the job they would incoporate that amount next time. They also advised that they could get me a refurbished machine for which I was not interested in. After they left I rang another tradesperson to advise that he no longer needed to come as someone had already looked at it. This tradesman asked what the problem was and when I told him he said it did not sound right and that he would come anyway and would not charge a call out fee. He worked out straight away that it was the switch that engages the lid as it was a top loader that was the issue. He replaced it within 20 mins and charged $160.00 all up. Needless to say I called Jery back to advise him of this and he apologised. I was really dissapointed and requested that he didn\'t bank the cheque I had written for him. Jery advised that he would not. This is a real shame as I have used Service Central before and had a great experience. I have posted this as I hope others will not be in the same position with thier washing machines. I have just completed a load of washing with no issues.
