Plasma TV fails to startup after what seemed like the internal power supply unit failing. When switched on the cooling fans run and there's a flicker of an image for a second or two and the unit tries this process to switch on for 3 times and then stops.
I had the fans cleaned up a year ago as one of them won't run due to the accumulated dust, etc. and the unit was displaying "FAN not OK" message. After the cleanup this was OK and everything functioned fine.
I believe the screen to be one of the best that Sony produced back in 2002 with 1024x1024 HD 1080i capability. Therefore the picture quality has been great with no loss of pixel blackouts. I would suspect that any of the auxiliary circuitry i.e. power supply or components i.e. fans could be the source of the problem.
I need a technician to have very quick look at it possibly in my presence and let me know if this something that needs a quick fix or not.
