I think i need a new thermostat for my fridge

my WRID45TS - whirlpool has frozen everything in the fridge.. only around 3 years old.
looking at whether or not i can just turn it off and on again or whether i need a new thermostat completely... very $$ concious.
no ice in the fridge or freezer, vents are clear, but the fridge froze a whole watermelon in 4 hours. - i've lost all my food
