Air conditioner touch pad not working

We have a Vulcan Bonaire air conditioning unit and whilst we have been able to (eventually) turn it on the touch pad is not working. It flashes on and off. So the unit work - cool air is coming out but the touch pad does not display anything - including the on off button etc.
