I've moved into a new place and discovered that the outside telephone wire (the black one from the telstra pole on the other side of the street to the home) has been phsyically cut in two. My... I've moved into a new place and discovered that the outside telephone wire (the black one from the telstra pole on the other side of the street to the home) has been phsyically cut in two. My guess is a possum has chewed through it. Phoned my ADSL supplier and they said Telstra would charge over $300 dollars and it would be cheaper to get a local licensed cable installer. I would say there is about 50 mtrs of cable to be replaced as I've checked it and it's very weathered and needs to be replaced. I'm fairly handy and don't mind getting under the house or assisting with getting in the roof. I can be home Tue and Thu fairly early 5pm for someone to do a quote or really early doesn't bother me Mon,Wed or Fri.
