Re-weld kitchen (nook) table frame to 52mm stainless steel post

Have small triangular table in kitchen nook. Single piece timber table top is attached by screws to a "cross" made from 25mm square steel which is then directly welded to top of 52mm stainless steel post. The post is vertically mounted through the floorboards with a saddle onto the (enclosed) timber bearer and hence is difficult to remove. Job is simply to re-weld the steel cross to the post. I'd like a reinforced job
